I'm genuinely confused how this place stays in business. I have tried on many occasions to use this location for grooming and have had pretty much the same negative experiences each time. They have the WORST communication of any business I've ever seen. They do not answer their phone regularly - it always goes to voicemail and on top of that, they don't return those voicemails. I was able to finally reach someone after multiple days of calling to schedule an appointment. Appointment is schedule for 2 weeks out - that's great. Day of appointment comes, groomer calls out sick - I get it, no worries. They move my appointment to the following week on a Friday, same time - again, great, that works. I call Tuesday to confirm the time of my appointment - no answer, nothing returned. Same with my calls Wednesday and Thursday. No answer, no call back to VM. Show up on Friday, with the idea that my appointment was the same time that I was told 3 weeks ago. The person checking me in tells me, "We had your appointment down for an hour earlier and we're booked for the day, we can reschedule you for 3 weeks from now." No thanks. I'll take my business elsewhere. Sure, their staff is nice and professional without a doubt. But their management is horrendous. Hire someone to answer the phone

One time I tried to bathe my Lab on the back deck. One time. That was 7 yrs ago. The self wash tubs are a back saver. Edit 10/2024 Guess you'd better call ahead. Here over an hour before close & got told selfwash are closed early. Rude little goth girl. 5 star to 4.

I boarded my dog for a week when I was on vacation the first week of august. There was a few days where I didn’t see my dog on the puppy cam, when I called, they said everything was fine and he was doing great. When I picked my dog up, he was significantly skinnier and had horrible diarrhea, which Barkzone never called to let me know he was sick. He continued to not eat/have diarrhea for a week after I picked up my dog from Barkzone. I have never had any issues with day care but I will NEVER board my dog here again.

Always happy with their kind care of our 14 year old lab mix and so appreciate how clean she looks and smells.

Shannon is wonderful with my pup! I drive from Beaverton to work with her because my pup does so well with her and he is generally pretty anxious with baths and grooming. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our fur babies!

Noel was amazing! She was kind, patient, and flexible with my anxious pups needs. I had originally tried to go to another walk in grooming place, but they unexpectedly were not able to help us today. So I found this place and now I will be coming here from now on instead!

Great DYI doggie bath! They supply everything except for the dirty pooch. Top quality shampoo/conditioner and dryers. Always very clean with helpful attendants.

Kayla was AMAZING!!!! She did an EXCEPTIONAL job grooming Onyx!! We will be booking with her again! I'm so happy I found you guys!!!

The last two times I tried to get my dogs nails trimmed here, we walked away not having gotten them trimmed at all. A couple of years ago I had an appointment and brought my dog in and the attendant said “I can’t do it without help and I’m the only one here.” Shortly after, another employee walked in with their off-leash dog which ran up to my nervous, on-leash dog and cornered it. They did nothing about this but watch. Didn’t even try to call the dog away. Then still said they couldn’t do it even though they clearly had help now. Thought I’d try them again and explained what had happened last time with someone very understanding on the phone. They said we’ll make sure there’s enough help and to schedule at a time when it’d be low traffic in the shop. Today I show up for my appointment and nobody is here at all. Not answering my phone calls or their ring door bell. We waited around for 30 mins and nothing. Pretty bad experience all around. UPDATE: The still haven’t even responded to my voicemails I left 3 days ago. Waste of time.

Barkzone is great! It's the staff that make it so. They are friendly and attentive to my dog, they know her. I would LOVE it if drop off were a little bit faster!

My 6-yr-old Great Pyrenees got her first grooming ever and she came out looking and smelling fabulous. They were sensitive to her nervousness and were able to groom her without needing to resort to a muzzle. She's much more comfortable without all the extra floof (IYKYK). Beats trying to bathe her myself in my claw foot bathtub! Highly recommend.

After two serious incidents, we will never ever trust this place with our dog again! During the first incident, while we were overseas, we saw their missed call at around 2am with no voicemail or email. We were extremely frightened, especially since we had previously been told they would only call in the case of a serious emergency involving our dog. I spent that time repeatedly calling them back in distress, but no one answered! 💔 It took nearly an hour to finally reach someone. We later found out they had mishandled our dog’s food storage and we had to urgently purchase new food at our own expense to ensure our dog was fed. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic responsibility in this situation was unacceptable! The second incident was far worse. Just three days into our trip, we received a voicemail saying our 7 lb dog had been involved in a fight. We were initially told that a large dog pinned her down during mealtime. We specifically requested a written explanation of what happened and asked for photos. While they did send photos, they never provided any written explanation. (Not surprised!) Instead, we only received a phone call from a manager, and later, when we picked our dog up, we were given a completely different version of events. The refusal to document the incident in writing, combined with conflicting stories, raises serious concerns about transparency and accountability. After picking our pup up, we discovered bite marks and eye infection following. The fact that dogs of all sizes are mixed together, especially during feeding, shows extremely poor judgment and unsafe handling practices. On a side note, their website/storefront stated we could pick dogs up during break time, but they will charge a fee. We tried to do that once, and the staff showed up rude and fed up insisting us picking up during business hours. Crazy! We are just so incredibly fortunate that our dog is safe, but this experience was completely unacceptable. Between the lack of communication, inconsistent reporting, and questionable safety practices, we strongly advise others to think twice before trusting this facility with their pets!

I just wanted to leave a grooming review for Portland Barkzone. Thank you Taylor! My dog Mauricio has never looked better. You are very professional, on top of scheduling and personable. I apologize for not leaving a tip! The grooming rates went up substantially since my last visit! Barkzone is lucky to have you. Thanks again

Hard to get a hold of but my dogs love them and they do a great job!

Myra is fantastic. We used to take our dog Dexter there RIP. There is simply no better groomer in Portland or beyond.

They’re always so good about making my dog look perfect. I can always get an appointment and my dog doesn’t mind going in so that’s a good sign! Highly recommend these folks!
